Eid al-AdhaEid al-Adha (aka Idul Adha) is one of the two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims each year, also known as the “Feast of the Sacrifice”. One of the observances is to sacrifice an animal and divide its meat into three parts, with 1/3 being kept, 1/3 being given to friends and family, and 1/3 given to the poor and needy.

The distribution of sacrificial meats at Istiqlal mosque on Wednesday triggered a riot. One person was killed in the stampede and some mothers were also injured.
Many children and the elderly were seen to scream loudly when they were wedged between many humans in the middle of the chaotic situation. The situation was uncontrollable and many people were trampled on the ground. A woman was seen to be bleeding among the crowd.
The riots occurred due to an improper queue system. Residents who have waited since the evening were only allowed to enter the mosque around 05.00 AM in the morning.
