With Rolled-Up Pants, President SBY Monitors The Flood Situation Inside Presidential Palace
The Presidential Palace did not escape from the flood. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) had to roll up his pants in order to monitor the flooding situation inside the palace.
Based on photos sent by the Bureau of Public Relations of the State Palace on Thursday (Jan 17th), at 10.15 pm, the Presidential Palace complex was flooded. The water level inside the building could be seen reaching up to the calf of the President.
The President was wearing a blue shirt and knee-high beige pants. He was seen monitoring the water level at a corridor inside the Presidential Palace.
In the photo, the President was pointing at areas which were affected by the flooding. President SBY also invited some officials from the State Secretariat.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson had already warned of the flooding potential inside the State Palace. Through BNPB, the President has expressed readiness to face such floods.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) had no choice but to postpone an important meeting with Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, which was scheduled for this morning.

What??? The water is only at calf-level inside the State Palace? That’s not enough… I wish it was completely submerged instead.

The flooding situation [in Jakarta] must be pretty severe if the State Palace is flooded too.

Imagine the embarrassment if important overseas guests had to travel to the State Palace via rubber boats
